It seems like as soon as Labor Day approaches, everyone wants change. If you’re lucky enough to live where the seasons change, you change your wardrobe over to sweaters, boots, and leggings. Kids go back to school and routines change. The colors of the season go from bright summer hues to warmer cozy tones. Baseball season ends and football season gets insane.

Spoiler alert: Red isn’t trending this fall.

Shoulder Length Lob With Texture

Jennifer Lopez said goodbye to her long hair and replaced it with this super hot long layered textured lob haircut (say that 3 times fast). I’ve been growing my hair out for some time now, but this makes me want to make an appointment with my stylist right now. Everything about this cut and color is perfect for fall, including that spot on warm sombre.

Long Messy Waves

Long hair is always on-trend, but this year the soft curls of years past are being replaced with messier beachy waves like Chrissy Teigan’s. Sea salt spray is your best friend this fall, ladies. This color is another on-trend for fall. Gone are the days of always darker hair in the fall, but a warmer golden ombre hair color is very popular this year.

50 Shades of Gray

No matter what the length of your hair, granny hair is here to stay for this fall. The trend is hotter than ever and 50 Shades of Gray is definitely a must-try if you’re looking for a fun way to play with your color.

Blunt Bobs

Bobs are always in season, but the trends always take little turns with every season. We’ve seen the inverted bob and the lob (long bob) saw their surges, but this season’s bob is blunt on the ends. Strong lines are making a statement in bobs, but a little texture through the layers makes these beach waves flow beautifully.

Mermaid Hair

From pastel hues to bold and bright colors, the mermaid hair trend is hotter than ever and getting bolder and more exciting. If you’ve ever wanted to try pink or blue hair, now is the time. Hair color companies, like Pravana, are developing amazing hues that last longer than ever and even celebrities are on board for the mermaid hair craze.

When it comes to mermaid color, the season doesn’t seem to matter when choosing your hue.

Pastels and bright pinks are just as popular in the winter as they are in the summer. With that said, I expect to see a shift to purples and deep reds as fall approaches.

Shaved Sides

This is a trend that I really thought would never take off, but this fall the shaved side undercut is taking the heads of women by storm. Some people shave off the entire underside of their hair, others opt for the asymmetrical flair of one side. Either way, I’m not doing it (I lived through this wave in the early ’90s), but I think it’s cool.

The Crop Cut

Maybe it’s because everyone’s growing out their pixie cuts, or perhaps it’s just that stylish this fall, but the crop cut is trending in huge waves. What I love about a crop (which is generally just longer than a pixie cut, but shorter than a bob) is that you can still do a variety of different styles. Curl it, straighten it, add texture, or even tuck it under a ball cap. You’re set to go no matter your mood.

Babylights

If you’re not into the ombre, sombre, hombre trends in highlights, baby lights are the 2021 trend in highlights for you. This subtle and natural style of highlighting is great when you’re wanting to take your hair darker for the fall but still want a few natural light pieces.
